The mystery of who was behind the Lenihan Letter Hoax has been solved. The scheme was concocted by a prominent anti-Lenihan activist who is the only reported recipient of the letter. He did it for who knows what reason. Chairman Lenihan is definitely NOT running for re-election.

The model for this year's Obama campaign strategy can be found in Harry Truman's campaign vs,. Tom Dewey and George W's vs. John Kerry. They both won races they shouldn't have won given low incumbent approval ratings etc. by making the other guy look totally unacceptable and much worse than the status quo.
