DIPIETRO CHALLENGES MARIACHER TO AGREE TO DEBATE Candidate dodges Tuesday Republican Primary Assembly debate
(EAST AURORA, NY) – Conservative Republican candidate for New York State Assembly David DiPietro today announced he has agreed to participate in an August 21st debate and hit one of his GOP opponents for dodging the event.
Republican Primary candidates Dan Humiston - an Independence Party member - and Republican Chris Lane of East Aurora have also agreed to join DiPietro at the debate. David Mariacher is the only candidate who has not responded to media sponsor City and State’s invitation.
“Republican voters in the two counties of the 147th Assembly District deserve an opportunity to see us debate,” DiPietro said. “Mr. Mariacher’s refusal to debate is a slap in the face to the Republicans of Erie and Wyoming counties. Voters cannot cast their votes with confidence if they don’t know where the candidates stand on the issues."
"I call upon Mr. Mariacher to join all of us on the debate stage on Tuesday night to give the voters the discussion they deserve,” DiPietro said. “I am particularly interested in hearing the details of his plan to reform federal Social Security from a seat in the New York State Assembly - a legislative priority he announced at a recent Town of Evans Republican Committee meeting.”
DiPietro is the endorsed candidate of the Republican town committees of Eden, Marilla and Aurora. He was also recently endorsed by the New York State Conservative Party and will appear on the Conservative Party ballot line in November. He won Wyoming County and four Erie County towns in the heavily contested 2010 Republican Primary for State Senate. Today, DiPietro is stronger than ever before and his support grows daily because he is the only candidate for the 147th Assembly seat with a pristine record of achieving real tax savings - a top priority for all Republican and Conservative voters.
The Assembly debate is sponsored by statewide media outlet City and State, the Partnership for the Public Good, and the YWCA of Western New York. The event will be held Tuesday, August 21st from 7-9PM at the Buffalo Historical Society at 25 Nottingham Court in Buffalo. The event is free and the general public is invited to attend.

David DiPietro is a small businessman and lifelong resident of East Aurora, New York. He is the second-generation owner of Sparkle Cleaners, a 65 year-old family operated business with locations in East Aurora and Amherst. Beyond his six years of service as Mayor, he also served as an elected Village of East Aurora Trustee from 1999 to 2002.
