It seems pretty definite now that Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz will announce his choice for county Democratic chairman not long after this Monday's Town and Zone Chairs Forum for chairmanship contenders scheduled for this Monday at Curley's in Lackawanna. The CE has said his selection process will be limited to the four current contenders: Cheektowaga Dem Chairman Frank Max, successful businessman Jim Eagan, Leg Chief of Staff Jeremy Zellner, and attorney Marc Panepinto.

In any case, other candidates are likely to get in the contest. For example we understand that friends of Zone Chairman and Board of Elections official Arthur “Champ” Eve are strongly urging him to get into the fray.

Whoever gets the Poloncarz nod will face strong opposition from Max and Eagan, with the contest to be decided by a weighted vote of Dem committee members in late September..
