Running Vs. Ranzenhofer To Cut Costs, Give District A More Visible Senator
Written by Glenn Gramigna, Editor

JUSTIN ROONEY: “AN OVERWHELMING RESPONSE” AND A DESIRE TO SEND ONE OF THEIR OWN TO ALBANY

If the current incumbent thinks his re-election this year is going to be a cakewalk, he needs to show up at one of his opponent's appearances, according to challenger Justin Rooney.

“I have gotten an overwhelming response,” Rooney reports. “Most people I meet don't have any idea who their state senator is. They have never met or seen him. When I go to events like the Taste of Stafford or to the July 4 celebration in Batavia, people are so happy to see me. They thank me for coming to talk to them and for being willing to challenge the incumbent. In towns such as Clarence and Newstead or Pembroke or Leroy, they want a state senator who is one of their own, someone who really cases about them.”

As for the incumbent, NYS Senator Mike Ranzenhofer, Rooney reports that he has seen him only once on the campaign trail so far.

“A lot of people say I'm the first Democrat they are going to vote for,” he adds. “They are looking for real change in Albany.”

Clearly, the challenger has some definite differences with the current Senator.

“I would not have voted to have two separate primaries this year, costing the taxpayers of New York a lot of money in unnecessary costs,” Rooney states. “I would not have voted to expand the number of politicians in our state by expanding the size of the state senate from 62 to 63. And, I certainly would not have voted to limit servicemen and women's opportunities to vote while they are serving our country.”

Rooney pledges to use his influence as a Senator to promote consolidation of services and save taxpayer money just as he has as Deputy Supervisor of Newstead.

“As your state senator I will always be there to help local officials if and when they want to share facilities and save money just as we have done by combining the Newstead and Akron court buildings.” he promises. “When I am in office, people will know who their state senator is because I am going to be in the community talking to people and answering questions every day.”

Can he beat Ranzenhofer?

“I feel very good about this race because I know that the people of this district want real change,” Justin Rooney concludes. “I believe I am going to win.”.
