Paladino Panel Causes Stir
Written by Glenn Gramigna, Editor

NO HIGGINS/BROWN BLOOD FEUD...SOMETIMES THEY DISAGREE...”POLITICAL BUZZ” CAUSES CONTROVERSY

Despite last week's front page story in the Buffalo News hyping a possible lingering political feud between Buffalo/Niagara Falls Congressman Brian Higgins and Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, we have found that there is no lasting feud or fight here but simply a case of policy disagreement between the two.

Specifically on the issue of Peace Bridge Plaza expansion, Mayor Brown is simply speaking up for the interest of West Side residents who are already plagued with high asthma rates, especially among children and fear that plaza expansion will lead to more truck idling in their midge, which will in turn lead to more disease and illness.

In other news, former Empire Sports Network guru Bob Koshinski's new WBBZ-TV (Ch. 5 on Time Warner, various times) is creating controversy by launching its weekly “Political Buzz” panel show. The first week's discussion, refereed by former Ch. 2 news maven Mylous Hairston, included former GOP gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino, former Erie County Dem Chairman Steve Pigeon, and former County Republican Chairman Bob Davis.

Paladino declared that President Obama's bill to hire more teachers and police officers would simply put “more worthless people who do nothing” on the public payroll. He also made some rather lurid chages of election fraud vs. congressional candidate David Bellavia.

All in all, it was a remarkable debut for the program, leaving us eager to find out what the contests of their next panel will turn out to be.
