Syaed: If Police Concerned About "Threats," Why Does Warrant Refer To "False Press Releases?"
Written by Glenn Gramigna, Editor

NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED INFO  TECHNOLOGY EXEC SYAED ALI ASKS: "IF POLICE WERE INVESTIGATING 'THREATS TO MAYOR,' WHY DID THEY ONLY ASK ME ABOUT HOYT AND KEARNS, OTHER POLITICAL ASSOCIATIONS?"..."WHY DID SEARCH WARRANT REFER ONLY TO 'CRIME' OF DISTRIBUTING 'FALSE PRESS RELEASES?"

While the controversy over the Nov. 7 raid on his family home on Breckinridge and his subsequent detainment continues to swirl, 24 year old information technology executive Syaed Ali continues to feel puzzled. He spends most of his time working to expand his business, which services the high tech information and communication needs of literally hundres of companies all over the nation. Yet, when he is not working on business, he can't help wondering about statements some, some such as Police spokesperson, Mike DeGeorge, are making about his case.

"Threats to the Mayor?"..."Impersonation?"..."Harassment?"...If these things were the cause of the raid and arrest, why is it that the police officers on the scene asked him almost entirely about politics, he asks?...Why is it that two of the officers involved told him and his family members that Syaed was being targetted because he "made the Mayor really mad!"

"They didn't ask me about any threats to the Mayor, probably because they knew I have never made any threats against Mayor Brown or anyone else," Syaed declares. "I have no criminal record and no record of violence against anyone. I'm an information techology entrepreneur who has spent the past four years developing a company with clients all over America. What the Police asked me about was my associations if any with Len Lenihan and Mickey Kearns and Sam Hoyt and whether I would be willing to say Kearns and Hoyt were involved in doing illegal things with me...The only crime their search warrant refers to is the 'distribution of false press releases,' which is not a crime."

"Using the Police to try to force someone to give false incriminating testimony against political opponents is an abuse of power that is REALLY against the law," Syaed adds. "That is what they did. They tried to intimidate me into making false accusations against the Mayor's political opponents. They tried to pressure me into doing these things by threatening me with jail and by threatening my family with legal problems. That's the real crime that was committed here."

So why didn't he give in during his seven and a half hour detainment during which he was deprived of legal counsel, food, restroom access, and contact with his family?

"Because I knew I didn't do anything wrong," he quickly replies. "And, because I knew that the things they were trying to force me to do: Giving false testimony against the Mayor's political opponents, is much more illegal than anything they were accusing me of."
